The Amazing Progress of GenAI and the March to Multi-Modal Models
Large Multi-Modal (LMMs are coming) and will be transformational
Generative AI is when an input is put into an AI machine and an output is returned; i.e. the output is “generated” using probabilistic AI technology.
We are all now familiar with ChatGPT where text is entered and text is returned. This is “text-to-text.” But, there are many other types of GenAI tools, and we continue to update our summary slide.
Here are some just amazing examples (none of these existed 12 month ago outside the research lab).
ChatGPT 4 - image to text example for confusing parking signs
Midjourney - text to image for realistic photos
Midjourney prompt: hyper realistic photograph, portrait of a tattooed southamerican indigenous black woman, future punk, gold tattoo line, side profile, summer, dramatic light, looking down + film grain, Leica 50mm, Kodak portra 800, chiaroscuro, f1. 4, golden hour —ar 3:4 (Credit PromptHero)
CSM AI - image or video to 3D
RunwayML - text to video
Minerva - image to science - get answers to complex math questions
Just amazing.
Large Multi-Modal Models (LMMs) promise to accept any type of digital input (text, video, audio, etc.) and generate any digital output. A future possible scenario could be: “AI here is a data lake of my customer files, Youtube customer interviews and PDFs of contracts. Create an analysis of each customer’s life time profitability and examples of contract language relevant to pricing and customer satisfaction. Deliver the output in a powerpoint 10 slides with a friendly avatar reviewing the highlights in a 3 minute video.”
The GenAI future is arriving very fast.
The Corporate Buyers’ Guide to LLMs is coming…. The Buyers’ Guide is Coming.. Nov 14 release — $1999 report license for individual
Our team of 6 GenAI experts spent 1500 hours over 4 months researching the enterprise LLM vendor market. This research included conversations with CTO/AI leads at 28 companies, briefing with 15 vendors, calls with 9 consulting firms, talks with 9 VCs, and interactions with our 3,000 GAI Insights member community. We also held a 2 day enterprise GenAI conference with 300 attendees and 20 case studies. The team also did extensive secondary research of blogs, newsletters, and research papers. Wow, this is a fluid and every changing vendor market.
Our summarized findings are in a new report called Corporate Buyers’ Guide to LLMs that sells for $1,999. In this report you will learn
How the team segmented the vendor market and why
Which LLM vendors have the most market share so far
Who are the leading 9 LLM vendors at this early market moment and why they ranked high on the scoring methodology
Trends in open vs closed source models, generalized vs specialized, TCO drivers, etc.
How influential the eco-system is of Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS and Google Cloud for LLM vendor choice
How Microsoft/Azure/OpenAI is currently the dominating LLM vendor of choice at this very early moment but enterprise choices are changing
