Text-to-Video is AMAZING
How can this be real? Everyone now has a "Gen AI movie studio" on their smartphone.
The world is still learning to understand the transformative capabilities of text-to-text Generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Bing AI and text-to-image products like Midjourney and DALL-E 2
What?!? Is text-to-video even possible??
Yes, and it’s amazing.
Runway is one of several companies (Cuebric, Fliki, etc.) that provide text-to-video. Here is a very a simple video that I made in Runway in 30 seconds. I didn’t add sound yet and the free version is only 4 seconds (the paid goes to 15 seconds I believe).
Here is the prompt I used: lighting striking over grand canyon as sun is setting.
What is possible if I actually spend a few hours learning this tool? What will be possible in 12 months? What wonderful video creativity will we all see over the next 3 years when each of the 4 billion people work with a smartphone has access easy-to-use, Hollywood video creation tools?
Let me know if you have tried text-to-video yet and share your video with me.
We need a virtual “wall” on the internet to show everyone all our creations (like back in grade school): [video] with caption: Text-to-Video “Lighting Strikes Grand Canyon” by Paul Baier using Runway with prompt: lighting striking over grand canyon as sun is setting. Is anyone interested in starting this?
Ethan Mollick posted a great Summary of Gen AI tools for the “every person”. I strongly recommend a review. Here is one of his charts.

A recording of the “Coffee Cups for Left Handed People” ChatGPT presentation and demo that I gave for a Harvard Business School webinar is available online for free. Hundreds attended the webinar from around the world.
We kicked off a project to analyze and publish a report called “Corporate Buyer’s Guide to LLM”. Many companies have asked us for this and we are not aware anyone else (Gartner, Forrester, etc.) work on this. It’s obviously a very fluid and confusing area, but this is important. Our initial list includes 65 vendors. We will publish the report in September 12 at our conference and follow up with version with corrections and updates Nov 1. The report will sell for $1495 (no cost for vendors) and is designed to help companies develop a short list of 5 vendors from a list of 60+. Contact me if you are interested.
